Rebuilding Together in St. Joseph County (www.rtsjc.org) is a part of a national organization called “Rebuilding Together.” Its mission is to preserve and revitalize houses and communities, assuring that low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly or disabled, as well as families with children, live in warmth, safety, and independence. Its goal is to make a sustainable impact in partnership with the community.
Locally, this year’s Rebuilding Together will focus on the Belleville neighborhood in South Bend. Men and women from the University of Notre Dame and Saint Mary’s College will join together with citizens from the South Bend community to work on 27 houses.
