Conference: American Catholic Historical Association

Location: Notre Dame Conference Center / McKenna Hall

The spring meeting of the American Catholic Historical Association will be sponsored by the Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism and held on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, March 26-28, 2015.

The conference will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26 with a keynote address in McKenna Hall and will conclude on Saturday, March 28 with an optional, guided bus tour of South Bend parish architecture (1:00 – 4:00 p.m.) and Vigil Mass for Palm Sunday (5:00 p.m., Basilica of the Sacred Heart).

In recognition of the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War, the keynote address on American Catholics and the Civil War will be delivered by Dr. Michael Hochgeschwender, professor of North American cultural history, empirical cultural research, and cultural anthropology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich.

General registration fee is $75.
Graduate student fee is $50.
ND/St.Mary’s/Holy Cross faculty, staff, and students may attend at no charge, but must register if you wish to attend the conference banquet and/or the bus tour.

Registration includes:

  • Welcome reception on Thursday evening
  • Continental breakfast on Friday and Saturday morning
  • Lunch on Friday
  • Refreshments and snacks available throughout Friday and Saturday sessions
  • All meeting materials

Registration for the ACHA Banquet (Friday night) is an additional $35 for general registrants, $15 for graduate students, and free for registered faculty, staff, and students of Notre Dame, St. Mary’s, and Holy Cross.

Accommodations

A block of rooms is being held at the Morris Inn for the nights of March 25-28. The single or double rate is $149.00 plus tax per night.
