Holy Cross Harvest

Location: ND Campus

The Holy Cross Harvest food drive starts January 23 and runs through February 14. This joint drive will be held on the campuses of Notre Dame, St. Mary’s and Holy Cross Colleges to benefit the Food Bank of Northern Indiana as part of a combined effort with our local universities and colleges, along with WSBT and the South Bend Tribune as part of “Neighbors in Need”.

The need is great. In Indiana, 1 out of every 4 children is food insecure and almost 20% of the residents in northern Indiana don’t know where their next meal is coming from. To visualize this need, last year the Food Bank distributed 600 pounds of food for every seat in Notre Dame’s football stadium. This amount was double what they distributed in 2010 and the need now is just as great today.

This year’s drive will also accept monetary donations—the food bank can turn every dollar donated into approximately eight meals. Food barrels will also be located around campus for those who wish to donate non-perishable food and/or toiletry items.
