2014 Fall Undergraduate Research Fair

Thursday, October 30

All science majors are encouraged to consider presenting their research as a poster at the Fall Undergraduate Research Fair (FURF) onThursday, October 30, 2014 in Jordan Hall.

One important purpose of the research fair is to provide an opportunity for students to get advice from fellow science students about getting involved in research. Presenting research is a great way to demonstrate to fellow students the range of possibilities available, as well as getting experience of giving a poster presentation.  Research presented in the form of a poster could have taken place at another institution as well as Notre Dame, and over the summer or during the semester. Also, the research being presented does not necessarily have to be scientific in nature; science students that have undertaken research in other areas of scholarly endeavor are also encouraged to present a poster. Also, such a presentation could reuse an existing poster that has been generated for another event or scientific meeting.

Any student interested in presenting their research as a poster, please email me at dchalone@nd.edu by no later than Thursday, October 9, 2014, including the following information in the email: an existing or potential title of the poster presentation; institution where the research took place; when the research took place; the name and email address of the research mentor, and science major.  Subsequently, I will ask for a brief 200 word abstract about the research being presented for inclusion in a handout that will provided at the event. If students have not already generated a poster about their research, the College of Science will pay for the poster to be printed – details on how to do this will be provided closer to the event.

Any questions or concerns can be emailed to me at dchalone@nd.edu.
